The screen or just the glass?

On an iPad it is not always necessary to replace the whole screen. On the standard and older models, the touch glass (touch panel) and the display are separate parts: when only the glass is cracked and the picture is fine, only the touch panel is replaced - which is much cheaper. On the thinner, newer models (Pro, newer Air and mini) the glass and the display are glued into one unit and are replaced together.

Laminar flow cabinet: keeping dust out

We service iPads in a laminar flow cabinet, a special enclosure that filters dust out of the air. The air in the cabinet is cleaned through several powerful filters, and equipment like this is used in laboratories and for servicing sensitive electronics.

That is why, when we replace the glass on your iPad, the cabinet helps prevent dust from getting under the screen. We use the same cabinet for installation screen protectors.
