Did your phone fall into water, get soaked in the rain or did you spill a drink on it? The sooner you bring it in, the better the chances we can save it. We open the device, remove moisture and corrosion and check every part.

The iPhone is not waterproof! It is water resistant only under certain conditions, and liquid damage is not covered by the Apple warranty. Read why.

What to do straight away

  • Turn the device off

Do not check whether it works or turn it on again. Electrical current flowing through wet electronics causes the most damage.

  • Do not charge it

Do not plug in the charger until we have checked the device, even if it seems dry to you.

  • Wipe it, do not use a hair dryer

Wipe it with a dry cloth. Heat from a hair dryer or radiator can damage parts, and rice does not remove moisture from inside the phone.

The iPhone is not waterproof!

Although Apple advertises iPhone models as waterproof, it is more accurate to say they are water resistant under certain conditions. The protection relies on seals and the design of the device, but it is not permanent and does not guarantee safety when submerged.

Water can get in through openings, speakers, microphones, connectors or damaged spots on the housing. The protection can weaken over time because of aging seals, knocks, drops or the phone having been opened before. That is why contact with water can cause corrosion and damage to electronic components, even when the phone works normally at first.

Liquid damage is not covered by the Apple warranty, so a “waterproof iPhone” should not be treated as a phone that is safe to use in water.

What we do with a water-damaged device

We open the device, remove moisture and clean traces of corrosion from the electronics. Then we check every part.

  • After minor exposure, cleaning and drying are often enough.
  • Sometimes damaged parts need replacing, usually the battery or the screen.
  • More serious damage requires a logic board repair.

Before any repair we tell you what we found and what it costs. The same goes for the iPad and MacBook: bring them in as soon as possible, turned off.

FAQ

Can I get my iPhone wet?

You should not. Water resistance is not permanent. It weakens over time and after drops, and Apple does not cover liquid damage under warranty. So even a water-resistant phone should not be submerged.

Will I lose my data?

In most cases the data is retained, but we cannot guarantee this in advance if the damage is more serious. If your data matters more to you than the phone, tell us straight away so we can plan the repair around it.

How much does repairing a water-damaged device cost?

It depends on the damage. Sometimes cleaning is enough, sometimes a part needs replacing (e.g. the screen or the battery), and sometimes the logic board needs repairing. We tell you the exact price after free diagnostics. If we cannot repair the device, you pay nothing.

Are diagnostics free?

Yes. The inspection and diagnostics are free. If we cannot repair the device or solve the problem, we do not charge for the service.

Do you need my passcode?

Not for a screen or battery replacement. For camera replacement or logic board repair, we usually need it to test all the device’s functions. You can still choose to test those functions yourself at our repair shop, although this may take longer.

What does the warranty cover?

The warranty lasts 6 months and covers a fault or failure of the fitted part. It does not cover physical damage after the repair, such as a knock, a drop or liquid damage.

Can I send the device instead of coming in?

Yes. With iPickUp we collect the device from your address and bring it back repaired. The service costs 1,500 RSD and is available in the Belgrade area. Call us to book it.

When are you open?

We are open Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 16:00. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. You will find us at Kosovska 28, in Stari Grad.
