When it is time for a new battery

Lithium-ion batteries lose capacity over time, and on most phones this becomes noticeable after two to three years. Not sure? Bring the phone in for free diagnostics.

  • Battery runs out by midday

The phone does not last the day, even though you do not use it more than before.

  • Shuts down by itself

It turns off at 20-30%, in the cold or when you open the camera or a game.

  • Capacity below 80%

Settings › Battery shows a maximum capacity below 80% or recommends service.

  • The screen is lifting

A sign that the battery has swollen. Such a battery should be replaced as soon as possible - do not try to press the screen back, as it can crack.

Which battery should you choose?

After a repair, iPhone records the type of part installed in Settings › General › About › Parts and Service History. The options are grouped by the message shown there.

  • Genuine, previously installed

About › Parts and Service HistoryBatteryOriginal Used

A genuine Apple part previously linked to another device in Apple's database. It is a genuine part at a lower price than a new service pack part.

  • New genuine Apple part

Battery replacement requires the right tools and care

The battery in an iPhone is glued in at the factory and connected to the phone with a thin cable. With the wrong tools it is easy to damage the battery, the screen or the cables inside the phone. That is why we do the replacement professionally, and we carefully choose and test the batteries we install.

A worn-out battery does not only shorten the time between charges. When the battery can no longer deliver enough current under heavy load, the iPhone slows down the processor so that it does not shut down, and the phone runs slower: apps take longer to open, and the camera and games respond more slowly. A new battery can improve both battery life and performance.

Apple explains the link between battery health and phone performance on the iPhone Battery and Performance page.

Battery capacity by model

The capacity of the genuine Apple battery in mAh, from the newest to the oldest models. Apple does not list it in the phone specifications, so the values come from regulatory documents and teardowns. A higher number does not always mean longer battery life, because consumption also depends on the processor and the type of screen.

FAQ

How long does a battery replacement take?

Usually just a couple of hours, so you can wait or collect the phone the same day.

How long does a new battery last?

Apple states that an iPhone battery retains about 80% of its capacity after 500 charge cycles, and on iPhone 15 and newer after about 1,000 cycles. With normal use that is several years.

What if the battery has swollen?

Do not charge the phone. Bring it in as soon as possible. A swollen battery lifts the screen. Do not try to press it back, as the screen can easily crack.

What does the “Unknown Part” message mean after the replacement?

Since iOS 15.2, iPhone has included a Parts and Service History section in Settings. The “Unknown Part” message means the phone could not verify the installed battery as a genuine Apple part. “Which battery should you choose?” and each model page explain the message shown for each option. The phone can still work normally with a good-quality aftermarket battery.

Are diagnostics free?

Yes. The inspection and diagnostics are free. If we cannot repair the device or solve the problem, we do not charge for the service.

Will I lose my data?

No. Our repairs do not require erasing the device. Photos, apps, documents and settings stay where they were.

Do you need my passcode?

Not for a screen or battery replacement. For camera replacement or logic board repair, we usually need it to test all the device’s functions. You can still choose to test those functions yourself at our repair shop, although this may take longer.

What does the warranty cover?

The warranty lasts 6 months and covers a fault or failure of the fitted part. It does not cover physical damage after the repair, such as a knock, a drop or liquid damage.

Can I send the device instead of coming in?

Yes. With iPickUp we collect the device from your address and bring it back repaired. The service costs 1,500 RSD and is available in the Belgrade area. Call us to book it.

When are you open?

We are open Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 16:00. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. You will find us at Kosovska 28, in Stari Grad.
