How we remove the back glass

The procedure depends on how the back glass is attached to your model.

  • Older models

    Glued glass is removed with a laser

    On models from iPhone 8 to iPhone 13, iPhone SE (2020 and 2022) and iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, the back glass is glued to the housing at the factory. The laser breaks down the adhesive under the glass, allowing us to remove the old glass while keeping the housing.

  • Newer models

    The glass comes off without a laser

    On iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, the iPhone 15, 16 and 17 series, iPhone 16e, 17e and iPhone Air, the back glass is a separate part. We remove it by hand, without a laser.

  • Our equipment

    A blue-light laser

    We use a FORWARD Rethink machine with a blue laser. Unlike an ordinary fiber laser, it does not damage the screen on the other side and removes adhesive even from badly cracked glass. The laser operates in an enclosed chamber and is precisely guided across the entire surface.

  • Turnaround time

    Why it takes a day or two

    Removing the adhesive with the laser, cleaning the frame and gluing the new glass take longer than an ordinary part replacement. The adhesive has to set before we return the phone, so the new glass is held securely, as the original was.

FAQ

Is only the glass replaced or the whole housing?

Usually only the glass. On older models the glass is glued to the housing, so we remove it with a laser and install new glass while keeping the housing. We replace the whole housing when the frame is damaged too. We tell you what applies to your model before the repair.

How long does a back glass replacement take?

Usually a day or two. On models with glued glass, we remove the old glass with a laser, clean the frame and glue the new glass, and the adhesive has to set before we return the phone. Call before you come so we can check that the part for your model is in stock.

Is laser removal of the glass safe for the phone?

Yes. The laser breaks down only the adhesive under the back glass. We use a machine with a blue laser, which unlike an ordinary fiber laser does not damage the screen, and it works in a closed chamber. Your data stays on the phone.

Are diagnostics free?

Yes. The inspection and diagnostics are free. If we cannot repair the device or solve the problem, we do not charge for the service.

Will I lose my data?

No. Our repairs do not require erasing the device. Photos, apps, documents and settings stay where they were.

Do you need my passcode?

Not for a screen or battery replacement. For camera replacement or logic board repair, we usually need it to test all the device’s functions. You can still choose to test those functions yourself at our repair shop, although this may take longer.

What does the warranty cover?

The warranty lasts 6 months and covers a fault or failure of the fitted part. It does not cover physical damage after the repair, such as a knock, a drop or liquid damage.

Can I send the device instead of coming in?

Yes. With iPickUp we collect the device from your address and bring it back repaired. The service costs 1,500 RSD and is available in the Belgrade area. Call us to book it.

When are you open?

We are open Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 16:00. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. You will find us at Kosovska 28, in Stari Grad.
